Pre-Save pages
Let fans save your upcoming release before it drops. Collect pre-saves and emails.
Why Pre-Save matters
Spotify's algorithm pays attention to what happens in the first 24 hours after a release goes live. Pre-saves count as Day 1 saves, which signals to the algorithm that people are interested. More saves on Day 1 means a better chance of landing on algorithmic playlists like Release Radar and Discover Weekly.
Pre-Save pages also capture fan emails. Every email collected is someone you can reach directly for future releases, shows, and merch, without depending on a platform's algorithm.
How to create a Pre-Save page
- Go to Smart Links in the sidebar and click New Link.
- Select Pre-Release Link.
- Enter your release title and artist name.
- Set the release date. This is the date your track goes live on streaming platforms.
- Upload cover artwork. If you don't have final artwork yet, upload a placeholder image. The page will show whatever you upload, so don't leave it blank. You can replace the artwork later in the editor.
- Click Create. Your Pre-Save page is live.
Share the URL immediately. The page works from the moment you create it.
What fans see
When a fan clicks your Pre-Save link, they land on a page showing your artwork, track title, and artist name. They can:
- Pre-save on Spotify. Fans click the Spotify button and authorize NotNoise to save the track to their library on release day. This is a standard Spotify permission. NotNoise only adds the specific track to their library. It doesn't access their playlists, listening history, or any other data.
- Leave their email. If you have email capture enabled, fans can enter their email to get notified when the release drops.
The page works on any device, desktop or mobile.
If fans ask "is this safe?", you can tell them: it's the same Spotify pre-save flow used by all major distributors and labels. NotNoise just saves one track on their behalf.
What happens on release day
On the release date you set, NotNoise automatically:
- Checks Spotify for the live release using your artist name and track title.
- Converts the Pre-Save page to a regular Smart Link. Same URL, now pointing to the live track on every detected platform.
- Saves the track to the Spotify library of every fan who pre-saved.
- Sends a notification to fans who pre-saved (via Spotify).
You don't need to do anything. The URL you shared in your bio, stories, and messages continues to work, now as a full Smart Link.
What if the release doesn't appear on time?
If your distributor is late or the release date shifts, NotNoise keeps checking. If it can't detect the release automatically after 48 hours, you'll receive an email with instructions to link the release manually. Your pre-save page stays active in the meantime.
Tips for Pre-Save campaigns
- Start 1-2 weeks before release. That's enough time to build momentum without losing urgency. Starting too early (4+ weeks) leads to fans forgetting they pre-saved.
- Put it in your bio immediately. Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, YouTube. The link stays in your bio and converts to a Smart Link on release day. No need to swap links.
- Tease the release. Post snippets, behind-the-scenes clips, or artwork reveals that drive fans to the Pre-Save link. Give them a reason to click.
- Enable email capture. Every pre-save page should also collect emails. Pre-savers are your most engaged fans. Get their email so you can reach them for future releases.
- Share in Stories with a countdown. Instagram Stories with a countdown sticker + Pre-Save link creates urgency.
- Tell fans what pre-saving does. Many listeners don't know what pre-save means. A simple "Save my new track to your Spotify so it's there on release day" goes a long way.
